The world's first shopping mall since the reign of Mehmed The Conqueror, The Grand Bazaar's Inner Bedesten, where fabrics, jewelry, weapons, and other valuables are sold, has been operating since 1456. The Grand Bazaar was added to the area in 1460. Built to provide revenue for Hagia Sophia, the structure has shaped Istanbul's gold market for 570 years.
